He only recently popped the question to boyfriend John-Paul McQueen, following a successful stint in rehab.
But
Ste Hay and his fiance have clearly decided a long engagement is not
for them, after filming scenes for Hollyoaks' first same-sex wedding
recently.
The
couple, played by Kieron Richardson and James Sutton, were seen
kissing outside a pretty Liverpool church while their on-screen family
showered them in confetti.
Tying the knot: James Sutton and Kieron Richardson were spotted filming their characters' gay wedding recently in Liverpool
Quite the
contrast! The Hollyoaks actors both sported grey, three-piece suits (R),
however James, who plays John-Paul McQueen in the soap, later appeared
to be channelling Geri Halliwell (L)
In
scenes set to air on Channel 4 on Christmas Eve, the stars are seen
looking dapper in grey, three-piece suits, complete with rose corsage.
However
31-year-old James' role sees him arrive at his big day still dressed in a
Geri Halliwell-inspired, Union Jack dress, covered in sequins, and
white platforms.
It
is thought the groom-to-be ended up stranded following a messy stag
night, before hitching a lift from a group of rugby players in order to
make it there on time, DigitalSpy reported.
Just married: Their co-stars showered them in confetti as they walked out of the idyllic church
Sneaky: The 31-year-old certainly turned heads in platform white boots and sequinned, Union Jack dress
Stealing a moment: The pair were seen kissing after the ceremony, while surrounded by their on-screen friends and family
Leela
Lomax and Porsche McQueen, portrayed by Kirsty Leigh Porter and
Twinnie-Lee Moore respectively, were also pictured during the shoot
dressed in floaty green bridesmaid dresses.
However
the blonde beauty appeared to be feeling the chill, and covered up in
socks, a thick coat while clutching a hot water bottle against her
midriff in between takes.
Speaking ahead of the hour-long special, James told All About Soap: 'There's finally a little bit of happiness, which is what they haven't had much of together so far.
Killing time: The soap star looked much more dapper earlier on in the day in his much more traditional outfit
The envy of
all: Bridesmaids Leela Lomax (L) and Porsche McQueen(R) were seen
dressed in long green dresses. The characters are played by Kirsty Leigh
Porter and Twinnie-Lee Moore respectively
Say cheese! A number of the wedding party were seen posing outside prior to the wedding
What's up? Nana McQueen, played by Diane Langton, looked a little concerned as she spotted the boys outside
'It's
all going really well, but then there's a bit of a bombshell at the end
of the wedding. It's a huge revelation, in classic soap fashion.'
He continued: 'It's such a well-written episode and it's an hour-long special as well, which is great.'
The 28-year-old, who is set to marry his real-life partner Carl Hyland in spring 2015, also told the Mirror: 'It is a little dress rehearsal for me in real life. But I have learned not to have any McQueens at my real wedding!'
Androgynous: Nancy Osborne was dressed in a smart, black trouser suit and bow-tie
And, relax! The actress later ditched the heels in favour of socks and trainers in between takes
Furry nice! The groom's grandmother was seen wearing a red shawl, patterned trousers and flip-flops
Feeling the chill? The blonde beauty was seen clutching long socks, fluffy slippers and a quilted coat
