Green goddess: Rachel Riley will be swapping numbers for movie star glamour as she has been revealed as one of the red carpet presenters on this year's BAFTA red carpet, on Sunday February 8
She's best known for her ability to solve a maths equation in seconds.
But
Rachel Riley is going to give live presenting and interviewing a bash,
as she has been announced as one of the red carpet reporters for the EE
British Academy Film Awards on Sunday February 8.
The
Countdown star will be part of a brand new and revolutionary viewing of
the BAFTAs in collaboration with EE, as the red carpet will be
live-streamed to fans across the world with multi-angle technology,
bringing them closer to the glitz and glamour than ever before.
Speaking of her new and exciting role, Rachel said: 'This will be my first time presenting on the BAFTA red carpet and I can't wait to chat to all the stars.
'There is a big maths theme at this year's awards with the biopics of two of my heroes, Alan Turing and Stephen Hawking, both up for loads of awards – I might have to test Eddie and Benedict on their maths skills!'
As her big new presenting coup was revealed, the 29-year-old former Strictly star posed expertly against a large backdrop of the revered BAFTA sculpture.
And, giving a hint as to what she may be wearing as she chats to the stars on the red carpet on Sunday, she wore a stunning light jade green fitted dress with an intriguing cut-out design over her shoulders.
'I'll test Eddie and Benedict on their maths skills!' The stunning Countdown presenter will be loaded with a camera to show off the stars' glamorous ensembles, but she has a numerical ulterior motive
She'll be working the red carpet along with presenting stalwart Zoë Ball as the British movie awards ceremony gets a distinct makeover from its American cousins, with the installation of several new 'cams' in order to give viewers at home a 360 degree experience of the stars, their dresses and social media activities.
Rachel herself will be positioned at the entrance to the Royal Opera House at the end of the star-studded runway, with a Connected Couture with Glam Cam in order to get the best view of the designer frocks and diamonds while she chats to the movie elite.
There will also be an Arrivals Cam, which will capture the A-list as they emerge from their cars and embark on their long journey through the Covent Garden strip to the front doors of the Royal Opera House.
Zoë will be located half-way up the carpet with the second camera, a Twitter Cam, ready to interview this year's nominees and other movie favourites.
Revolutionising the red carpet: The 29-year-old will be joined by Zoë Ball in a brand new multi-camera look at the red carpet, giving film fans at home a more insider view of the goings-on than ever before
And she'll be incorporating questions from Twitter (who'll use the #AskTheStars hashtag) to keep it interesting and add another fun and collaborative aspect to the pre-show entertainment.
Another camera will be the Dress Cam, also held by Rachel and capturing her own view of the red carpet glamour.
The Pose Cam, the fourth and final camera, will be the ultimate sneak peek into the photography pen, showing the celebrities working their best poises while showing off their gorgeous gowns and terrific tailoring.
Amanda Berry OBE, Chief Executive of BAFTA, said: 'Every year we welcome outstanding film talent to the EE British Academy Film Awards.
'Red carpet arrivals is always one of the most anticipated elements of the event, so this year we wanted to share the experience with as many people as possible with our new multi-camera live stream, which will allow film fans to enjoy the red carpet in a new and exciting way. We are thrilled to be working with our long-standing partner EE to bring this interactive viewing experience to the Awards.'
Co-host: Zoë Ball will be positioned with a Twitter Cam, asking the stars questions from fans on the social networking site
Spencer McHugh, Director of Brand at EE added that the experience is set to be 'a fantastic opportunity to use our technology to give film fans a unique view of the UK's most famous red carpet'.
This year's awards will see the likes of British favourites Eddie Redmayne, Ralph Fiennes and Benedict Cumberbatch go head-to-head for Best Actor for their roles in The Theory of Everything, The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Imitation Game respectively.
Brit actresses Rosamund Pike and Felicity Jones will also face-off for the Best Actress gong, for their parts in Gone Girl and The Theory of Everything.
Also up for big prizes this year are the likes of Keira Knightley, Michael Keaton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Reese Witherspoon, Julianne Moore and Amy Adams.
The live show can be viewed on ee.co.uk/BAFTA and BAFTA.org between 5pm-7pm on Sunday February 8.
