our hands. But the most pressing question on the nation's lips was not
just, 'who should I vote for?' but 'can I bring my dog to the polling
station?'
After
it was confirmed that polling stations were dog-friendly places,
hundreds of pets descended on village halls, churches (and tanks) to
make their mark on the political landscape.
The
hashtag #dogsatpollingstations took Twitter by storm and it was the
number one trend in the UK as hundreds tweeted pictures of their patient
pooches having a taste of democracy.
But it wasn't just dogs who made the effort as cats, ferrets and a few horses also tagged along with their owners.
Across
the country hundreds were also casting their vote at an array of more
unusual polling stations such as in pubs, allotment buildings, sports
grounds, beauty salons, windmills and even a launderette.
Twitter exploded with pictures of dogs having their taste of democracy and the hashtag #DogsAtPollingStations was the number one trend
