According to a Nigerian newspaper, Daily Punch, Kanu’s Hardley Apartments located on Waziri Ibrahim Street, Victoria Island was closed and its doors and gates chained then plastered with a LASEPA seal in what officials termed as a blatant refusal to comply despite being contacted severally.
Kayode Bello, the director of enforcement ordered that one of the generators be tested after it was discovered that the generators powering the hotel had large exhaust pipes facing the road.
Bello added that the noise from the premises could hit over 45 decibels at night, noting that the hotel also houses an expansive nightclub.
Hardley Apartments were built by the football star during the peak of his career and are strategically situated within a five-minute drive from the Canadian Embassy, Cameroonian Embassy and Silverbird Galleria.
The ex-Super Eagles player is amongst a few Africa’s most celebrated and decorated icons having captained the Nigerian National team for 16 years from 1994 to 2010.
Kanu won the English Premiere League, an FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup and an Olympic Gold Medal.
