According to BBC.com, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), one of country’s biggest clubs, has asked players to get extra cash by helping them venture into boda boda business.
Club chairman Ali Ssekatawa told BBC that they do not wish to restrict their players’ dependence to salary while advising the players to hire riders and not handle the business themselves due to the risks involved.
URA are one of the best clubs in the Uganda Premier League and have represented the county in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions.
The move is a fulfilment of earlier promise by the club’s commissioner Doris Akol who had vowed to come up with alternative means for the players to earn income.
One of the players’ interviewed Simeon Masaba praised the move saying it will help the players get a steady stream of revenue
