, NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 15 – At least one person has been confirmed dead after a fuel tanker accident that occurred near Mai Mahiu on Tuesday morning.
The traffic base commander in Naivasha told Capital FM News that three other people were rescued and taken to hospital with serious burns.
Police were still at the scene more than three hours later conducting a search mission following reports that there were more people in the five vehicles involved in the accident after the tanker caught fire.
“We are still at the scene and can only give you more details once we are through,” she said of the accident that occurred near the Italian Catholic missionary church located at the escarpment near Mai Mahiu.
Earlier, Police Spokesman Charles Owino had urged motorists to use alternative routes until the scene was cleared.
“We are urging motorists to avoid Mai Mahiu Road and instead use Limuru Road because of the accident,” he said on telephone
