Two small planes collided mid-air in Texas

Two small planes collided mid-air in Texas Investigators were examining the wreckage of a small plane left in the aftermath of a mid-air collision between two small planes over McKinney, Texas on Saturday (December 31) north of Dallas.
NBC reported that at least three persons were killed in the crash and that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it occurred near Aero Country Airport.
Eyewitness Chad Bloemker told Reuters he saw the moment of the collision while driving and that one of the planes veered east after impact, crashed into a storage facility. The other plane “started noise diving and doing a spiral,” he said.

Local media quoted Bloemker as saying that the planes were flying low to the ground. It also quoted a spokesperson with the FAA as saying that both planes were flying under Visual Flight Rules and that air traffic control was not in contact with either plane at the time.
Officials have not said what might have caused the planes to collide.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash, officials said
