Tension high in Baringo after rustlers attack village

Tension high in Baringo after rustlers attack village Tension is high in Baringo North Sub-county after heavily armed cattle rustlers attacked two villages stealing an unknown number of cattle while intimidating the locals.
Ng’aratuko and Loruk villages were under attack on Monday after the alleged raiders stole close to 300 goats.
Confirming the incident, Saimo/Soi MCA Richard Kambala said that locals have fled their homes, just a week after a similar attack was witnessed in Muchongoi area.
He urged the government to intervene swiftly to restore sanity in not only his ward but also the entire Baringo County.

Meanwhile, in Molo Nakuru County, boda-boda operators have threatened to hold demonstrations over increased insecurity in the area.
Speaking after an attack on one of them in Kibunja Forest by criminals posing as customers, the boda boda operators said the government is not doing enough to arrest the culprits despite numerous reported cases of crime.
They are now urging the police to beef up security by conducting daily night patrols in the area as at least 19 similar cases were reported in 2016 alone.
“We have been reporting cases to the police but they take no action. We pay various taxes and therefore we are supposed to be granted security,” said Dominic Mwangi.
Paul Osman was attacked with a panga by his would-be-passenger on Sunday.
“He came as a customer and I see him sometimes, so when we reached the railway in Kibunja he attacked me. We tussled and I was able to run away for my life and that’s when I met with a Good Samaritan,” Paul Osman narrated.
