Kenya women’s
national volleyball team won the Women’s Africa Nations Volleyball
championship for a record ninth time on Saturday, June 20, 2015.
The Malkia Strikers, who had an unbeaten run in the 10-day tournament, beat Algeria 3-0 at Nairobi’s Safaricom Indoor Arena.

Individual players were also celebrated with Everylne Makuto voted the most valuable player (MVP).
Janet Wanja was named the best setter, Ruth Jepngetich (best blocker) and Elizabeth Wanyama (best libero).
The Kenya women’s national volleyball team will now represent Africa in the Japan’s FIVB World Cup and aims to finish in the top four at the world cup so as to automatically qualify for the Rio Olympic Games.
A total of twelve teams will participate in the September event.
